There are many mint species and many varieties, partly because most species are creeping plants that cross easily. The stems of the mint plant are square and branched; they have aromatic leaves and flowers in the leaf axils.

The best-known mint species are Earthmint, Mentha spicata, and Peppermint, Mentha piperita. Some other species are:

Use and Application of Mint

Mint, peppermint, and spearmint are used to flavor sauces, vinegar, vegetables, desserts, and drinks. Furthermore, the leaves are candied. The taste of fresh mint is peppermint-like. The dried form is somewhat musty.

In English cuisine, it is used in sauces and stews. Greek cuisine is also used in sauces and stewed with lamb and mutton. In Indian cuisine, mint is used in drinks and chutneys.

In the Turkish kitchen in soups and salads. Lemon mint is added explicitly to chicken and in fruit salads and drinks.

White mint also tastes very good in fruit salads. Red raripila mint has a soft taste and fits well in salads, desserts, and drinks.

Mint tea is trendy in the Arab world. The cooling leaf tea of peppermint relieves colds with fever and motion sickness.

Healing Characteristics of Mint

Mint can flavor pickles, cigarettes, drinks, toothpaste, and medicines.
