About the book:
Lancaster County has always been her home--but where does her heart belong?
One moment Carrie Weaver was looking forward to running away with Lancaster Barnstormers pitcher Solomon Riehl--plans that included leaving the Amish community where they grew up. The next moment she was staring into a future as broken as her heart. Now, Carrie is faced with a choice. But will this opportunity be all she hoped? Or will this decision, this moment in time, change her life forever?
A tender story of love, forgiveness, and looking below the surface, The Choice uncovers the sweet simplicity of the Amish world--and shows that it's never too late to find your way back to God.

I really enjoyed this book. I found the crises that she goes through very moving and heartfelt. I'd really recommend this book.
Heidi at Reviews & Reflections
So, what is it about The Choice and Suzanne Woods Fisher that I like? Well, Suzanne's book isn't full of "fluff" about Amish traditions, nor does it describe locale. It simply tells a fiction story. And, it's not one of those books that you pick up, read chapter one, and know exactly how the book will end. No predictability here! With each passing chapter, I found myself saying (yes, I talk to myself on occasion) "wow, I wasn't expecting THAT!" If you're looking for a good Christian fiction book to read and, like me, you're sick of the predictability or the typical Amish hype, then I'd definitely recommend The Choice.
Lorri at Jeanne's Ramblings
There are plenty of twists and turns in this book. You will find people you want to hate and then find out they are human and have a soft side after all. Everything isn't always as it seems and Carrie finds herself and true love along the way.

The Choice is a beautifully told story of an Amish community and the secrets that people can hold in their hearts, and the ultimate healing powers of not only being forgiven but forgiving. The Choice is expertly written, with beautiful prose, believable and loveable characters, as well as a delightfully simple and at the same time twisting plot to keep the reader engaged and delighted.
Kristina at The Cajun Book Lady
This was a good read...Suzanne did a wonderful job of building up the story. There were several unexpected twists and turns that kept you guessing. In my opinion...it was a story about growing up, weighing your choices, and being able to live with those consequences whether good or bad.

...the characters were well written and believable ...

I have read Christian fiction before but never one that centers around the Amish. I wasn't sure what I would think at first but once I started reading it I found myself stealing any moment I could to read. Suzanne's writing had me feeling like I was part of the story; I cared for the people in the book. This book shows how God tests each of us with trials but he is faithful to provide for us.The discussion questions at the end of the book make it perfect for a book club. I will be sure to check out the next book in the Lancaster Country Series!
Julie at Busy Julie
I am generally not a huge fan of Christian fiction. I like it okay, I buy it and I read it, but I usually find it to be terribly predictable: happy life, trouble, crisis of faith, finding faith again, we all live happily ever after. Not that this is a bad plan of action, but do I really want to read that same book over and over? Not really. The Choice is not that book. It's filled with twists that the reader does not anticipate (at least this one didn't!), making for a very enjoyable read. This book also gave me some insight to the Amish faith, which I enjoyed learning about. The Choice is the first book in the Lancaster County Secrets series. I was very impressed and cannot wait to get my hands on the next book!
Wendy at It's JUST Me
Wow! What an absolutely exceptional book! I loved it. I gave this book 5 stars. I put Suzanne Woods Fisher right up there with(and maybe even surpassing) other Amish book writers. I was truly caught up in the sorrow and heartache that "Carrie" was feeling. I cried for her losses and then cried tears of joy when she finally found happiness and her place in life. The Character development was excellent. I have to say that I am truly now a fan of Suzanne Woods Fisher.

WOW! Suzanne Woods Fisher hits this one out of the park! Fisher took details of Amish culture and an AMAZING plot and took me on a roller coaster of heart break and love....and back dooooown the other side when I least expected it!
Tina at Mad Hatter Mom
Suzanne writes a book that is filled with LIFE! If you are looking for a sweet love story that throws a few monkey wrenches at you just when you think you have it figured out, then this is the book for you! *Warning* This is book one of a new series that Suzanne is writing. Prepare to be hooked!
Sherry at My Journey Back
When I began this book I expected it to be predictable. And I have said before in my reviews those of us that read romances should expect predictability. I mean we read them because we expect the girl to get the guy in the end. And so yes The Choice is predictable in that manner. But that is where predictability ends. I was caught up in this story. There are twists and turns throughout. I was totally surpirsed by the event in Chapter 14 and how it turned out. I never realized who the villian was. In fact I thought I knew who it was and boy was I wrong.

Anita at Anita's Antics
Difficult to put the book down. Suzanne Fisher weaves several smaller stories into the main story creating an exciting and compelling narrative. While there may be a stereotype for Christian fiction books, especially with regards to the Amish, this book broke the mold! Suzanne doesn’t include frivolous information about the Amish lifestyle. She writes, assuming the reader has a basic understanding about the Amish. I, for one, find that refreshing! (She doesn’t insult the reader.)

I’ve said this before, and I’m going to say it again, I’m not a big fan of Amish books. However i’m always signing up for Amish book blog tours just in case that book happens to be a fantastic one. THIS is the one i’ve waited so long to come across! It’s an Amish book that you won’t feel completely lost while reading, nor will you feel like she’s explaining every little detail of the character’s lives! Suzanne Woods Fisher is a master storyteller, my attention was never swayed during the entire reading of the book.
Margaret at CappuccinoLife
I found the plot of The Choice to be both interesting and inspiring.

The very first thing I'd like my readers to know is that I loved reading this story. WOW! It's just a wonderful journey through the complexity of life's choices. I appreciated how the author held me suspended until near the end of the book before she allowed me to glimpse a very satisfying conclusion. This is definitely a five star read for me.

Christi at Our Journey
I really enjoyed this book, I found the story well written and the characters engaging. There were some very unexpected elements in the story and some characters that are not found in the average Amish book. I loved how the characters developed and changed. I definitely give it 5 stars.
Marjorie at The Writer's Tool
An excellent story that brings to life a people and a way of life that is foreign to most of us. I loved the characters and the simple way of life portrayed while being challenged to consider my choices in life in light of God's plans for me.
Pam at Pam's Personal Reflections
Ms. Fisher did make the characters come alive. If you enjoy 'bonnet fiction' The Choice is worthy of a look.
Katie at A List Maker's Life
I have read and enjoyed series by other authors set in the same culture and time period, but found this book to be refreshing. Fisher brought new perspective that made it comfortable, yet entertaining, to return to a book in a similar setting. The characters were endearing and believable. I will look forward to checking back in with these characters in the books to come. Yet I appreciated that this title stood out on it own and ended with a clear resolution, instead of a frustrating cliff hanger.
Alaina at Dinker & Giggles
I really wanted to read The Choice. This simpler life. Life that was slow and relished on things that truly matter. That’s what I was expecting to read. About a woman’s choice between the world of love and her Amish life. What I got was not that. It was so much more. Just the right mix of faith, romance, hardship, and life.

Jamie at Surviving the Chaos
I found this to be another book I couldn't put down. Loved it. It was a very good read, especially if you dig Amish novels (traditional or not). It left me rather hungry for my Mennonite hometown (that is decidedly not Amish, but is peaceful).
Tracy at Tracy's Book Review
I just loved this book, I got my hands on this book on Saturday and had it finished by Sunday. I could not stop reading it ;) . Suzanne Woods Fisher brings the Amish to life in this book, we see how the young people struggle to decide how they will live their lives and grow in spirituality and maturity as time passes.
Jettie at Jettie's Ramblings
This is Book 1 in this series, and I am going to be waiting impatiently for the 2nd book. I was blown away by how great this book is, and would recommend it to anyone who likes something with a real plot, and that you are not ashamed to tell people you have read. Suzanne Woods Fisher has made this book come to life, and I am now a fan.

Tracy at No Greater Joy
I didn't really have great hopes for the book when i started reading. However that changed after the first few pages, the book was absolutely fantastic. The book begins with a young Amish woman named Carrie who makes plans to run away to marry her 'boyfriend'. However tragedy strikes the family and Carrie is forced to choose between love for a guy and love for her family. I loved the characters in this book, they were kind and faith-filled yet without that condescendingly proud tone you sometimes get when author's are trying to convey this. The author gave them real problems (not the corny silly problems that sometimes Christian authors seem to put in their books) and real heartache and showed how they dealt with it. All the characters were quite believable and easily likeable. I found this book easy to read and incredibly well written. I do believe Lancaster County has found a new fan!
Miralee at Miralee's Desk
I'm reading this book right now and thoroughly enjoying it! It's not like a lot of the other Amish books I've read.

Hold on to your bonnet! Suzanne Woods Fisher’s new book The Choice is riveting! Of all the Amish fiction I have read, this is by far my favorite. Once I started reading it I couldn’t put it down.

The Choice" is a real page turner, you won't want to put it down!
Amy at Girlfriends Get Real
You will love the main character Carrie Weaver from the beginning of the book. Many choices are made throughout the book that give you an interesting look at the Amish life. This is a great book that will tug at your heartstrings with its story of love and forgiveness.

Lauren @ 5 Minutes for Books
I am happy to report that The Choice is not just another Amish story at all. Sure, there are characters struggling with the decision to stick with tradition or follow their hearts, but there is also suspense, involvement with Englishers, and a fast-paced story line. I can't tell you how many times I thought I had things figured out, and then the plot took another drastic turn.

Julie at One Rainy Afternoon
I must admit, my first thought was along the lines of 'another Amish book. Hmm.' But Ms. Fisher does a great job of making it like no other Amish book you've read before. With many twists and turns and more tragedy than one heart should have to bear, Suzanne takes you on a journey with Carrie to the depths of her soul. Ms. Fisher has a wonderful writing style and you won't want to put this book down. I look forward to reading more books from this series.
Mindy at Ponderings Of The Heart
Not only was this a fabulous work of fiction, but I found plenty in this book that also helped me look at my faith more deeply. I loved it. I really, really did!
Prerna at The Mom Writes
Unputdownable. That is my one-word description of this latest offering by Suzanne Woods Fisher.
Stacie at Simply Stacie
The Choice had me captivated right from the first chapter and I drew me in even further as I went along in the book. The characters were believable and multi-dimensional. It is an excellent book and I highly recommend it!!

Sandy at Lil'Maddie's MeeMaw
I have been always been fascinated with the Amish and their lifestyle. I can't even begin to say enough good things about this book. This is the first of Suzanne Woods Fisher's books that I've ever read and I can definitely say that it won't be the last. The emotions that the characters felt were well portrayed and any reader, whether they've gone through similar circumstances or not, can relate to what each character must be feeling at any given time. I could not put it down!
Revka at The Porch Light
I found The Choice to be an enjoyable story. In her book, Mrs. Fischer offers us romance, human characters, and forks in the road that take us by surprise. I was touched by the theme of forgiveness and redemption found throughout the book.
Tammy at Tammy Is Blessed
The storyline is compelling and, unlike a lot of Christian fiction, not predictable. I often read fiction simply for the escape or for the simple enjoyment of it. This book provided those things, but it also provided food for thought. Counting the cost of our decisions, justice vs vengeance, responsibility or duty vs personal happiness; these are just a few of the topics brought up in The Choice.
Melissa at Books R Us
The book was an enjoyable read and there were twists and turns in the story that kept me guessing all the time. In reading the story, I was able to feel all of the character's emotions. I could not put the book down. I stayed up until two am on a school night to finish the book. Boy did I regret that in the morning. The author wrote an exceptional novel and I look forward to reading the next book of the series,The Waiting.

Sharon at I Dream Of Writing For God
Since I am a member of the Old German Baptist New Conference group I was interested to see if Suzanne would accurately portray the attachment many Anabaptists have to our culture. She captured the feeling exactly. Both the straining against the 'rules' we think we can bend, and the fear of loss we feel if we would actually leave the community. Suzanne is a wonderful story teller. It is often hard for a writer to read a novel without mentally critiquing the errors we have been taught to look for. "The Choice" passed the test with fully developed characters, believable plot and by not knowing how it would all turn out she kept my interest to the end.

Annette at A Well-Watered Garden
This is a great story full of twists and turns, and likable and unlikable characters. It is a story of love and forgiveness, patience in God's will and timing, and faith during sadness and heartache. It is also a story of unexpected blessings, and the joy of God's will over our own desires.
Vicki at Reading At The Beach
The book starts with a few twists and just gets better from there. I love how real the author made the characters. I connected with them immediately, felt their pain and joy and felt like I was reading about friends. This is the first in this series and I can't wait for the next one.
Stefany at I Thode You So
It is a very quick read that, while teaching you much about the Amish way of life, still peaks and keeps your interest so you can’t put the book down. I felt like I personally knew the characters in The Choice and cared about what happened to them all. I was able to imagine what life in an Amish home was like thanks to the great writing of Suzanne. This book has a bit of mystery, romance, and drama. You will want to cry for the characters at one moment and then turn around and cheer for them. The only negative thing I have to say about this book by Suzanne is that I have to wait until October to get the second book in this series.
Tammy at blog...blog...blog
I found The Choice to be a very quick read and really hard to put down. The writing flowed easily as a feather floating down a stream. It is a beautifully written inspirational story of God, faith, love, thankfulness.

Sheila at One Persons Journey Through A World Of Books
Carrie is a wonderfully strong main character that I took a liking to immediately. The Lancaster County Amish setting was well thought through and author Suzanne Woods Fisher does not disappoint when it comes to details. This book was one that once picked up did not get put down until I turned that last page. With such a strong character drive, Suzanne Woods Fisher drives us right through an incredible journey of faith and truth.
Jennifer at Adventures in Unsell Land
I LOVED The Choice! Suzanne broke the mold with this Amish Fiction title and had me at full attention throughout the entire book. The twisting plot kept me excited and took me in an entirely different direction than I thought the book was going. I loved that unpredictability in the storyline. The Choice is not a book where you have the ending predicted by the end of Chapter one, or even Chapter two, three, four, and so on for that matter.
Angela at All Grown Up
Typically, books on the Amish lifestyle, whether fiction or non-fiction, to me tend to be on the bland side, unable to keep my attention. Suzanne Woods Fisher, proved me wrong. Carrie Weaver is a young woman in turmoil. Many times her life as she knows it is ripped to shreds then put back together again, each time making her that much stronger, that much more resilient, that much more faithful, even if she doesn’t realize it. Bringing to mind the Nietzsche quote “What doesn’t kill us makes us stronger”. Carrie is exactly what Nietzsche was referring. Letting us know that we are never too old, young, or far away to come to God, as he is right beside us the entire time, no matter how grueling, heart breaking our trip might be, God is beside us, waiting for us to reach out to him.
Beckie at RBC Library
Fisher shows that while the Amish may not be as distracted by the world as their English counterparts, they face the same sorrows, fears and choices that all Christians face. The book is filled with very real and flawed characters, both English and Amish. The novel explores the true meaning of a life of faith, including what freedom looks like. The Choice depicts characters who struggle with finding their place in God’s family. I really enjoyed this book and am looking forward to the second in this series.
Laura at Lighthouse Academy
I couldn’t help but fall in love with Carrie as she struggles to find herself among many sudden, shocking changes, but I think Carrie definitely came out ahead, learning to lean more and more on God as each event unfolds.I thoroughly enjoyed reading THE CHOICE and am looking forward to Ms. Fisher’s second book in the series.

Sharon at The Legacy of Home
Reading the book was a delight. I found it comforting, peaceful and educational. It is well written and a lovely story.
Cafe Lily at Cafe Lily Book Reviews
I liked the fact that while the author added some unusual twists, she portrayed the timeless traditions and practices of the Plain people.
Vera at Luxury Reading
Suzanne Woods Fisher excels in writing about religion without sounding preachy. The characters' faith does not seem overpowering, is well interwoven and an integral part of the story. The Choice was my first experience with Amish fiction, and I was very pleasantly surprised at its appeal and at how easily I could relate to a story line that was so different from my own life. I love my electricity, washer and dryer and yet, The Choice managed to make the simple life of the Amish appealing even to someone like me.
Erin at Connected2Christ
This is the first book I’ve read from author Suzanne Woods Fisher and it certainly won’t be my last. I enjoy how Suzanne writes, as her writing style was easy to read and the captivating story kept it hard to put down. I read The Choice in a day in a half and am so sad that the story is over. I’m really look forward to more books in the Lancaster County Secrets Series!
Janet at Along the Way
Amish culture and beliefs were like a foreign language to me, and I was eagerly drawn into the lives of Carrie and her friends and family in The Choice. This is the first book that I have read with an Amish theme, and was impressed by the devotion that they had for each other, and the strength of their faith and community. The characters were an interesting mix that included traditional Amish families, a professional baseball player, and a couple of ex-cons, one of which was a motorcycle dude. I couldn't help but admire the simple way of life that the Amish people have, and I would love to find out more about their culture and community. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more books by Suzanne Fisher as soon as I can.

Alanna at The Library of a Distracted Musician
Wow - this was definitely not what I was expecting from this novel about an Amish community. It was probably silly of me, but I thought the pace might be slow, since the Amish lead a fairly simplistic lifestyle. Oh, how wrong I was. The book takes off extremely early in the book. Expect many twists, and good ones! Sometimes twists are expected by the reader, but I didn't see any of these coming. I am definitely looking forward to the next novel in this series!
Chelle at From His Heart to Mine
I would love to befriend this girl, to walk alongside of her, and hear her wisdom. That is how wonderfully Fisher allows us to learn about Carrie, and each person in her life.
Rebecca at Fearfully and Wonderfully Made
Oh my word! I LOVED this book! I thought things would be slower paced and simpler with it being a book about the Amish; however, this book is power packed from the word go. Romance, suspense, intrigue and the consequences of choices made filled the pages from beginning to end. There are twists and turns in this book that will literally make your head spin!
Amy at The 160 Acre Woods
lol I didn’t think I’d enjoy it as much as I would. I’ve never read Amish fiction before, but Suzanne Woods Fisher made me fall in love with it! This incredible book just had my heart thumping and my eyes watering! So engaging, I couldn’t put it down! If I could give a story 6 cherries I would! She’ll be on my top author’s list!

Andi at Radiant Light
Ms Fisher is a new author to me, yet Amish fiction is not. I must say I was quite taken by this book. Carrie is a character you can't help but fall in love with. While there is definitely some difficult issues being dealt with in the book, there is warmth and laughter. I think the Christian Fiction Amish writers have some NEW competition in Ms. Fisher! If you like Amish fiction I highly recommend this one!
Deirdre at JDaniel4's Mom
I really enjoyed this book. It was hard to put in down once I started it. I was really pulling for Carrie to make it through all the choices and challenges in her life. The author Suzanne Woods Fisher weaves a complex picture of Amish life and life in general. In the end you see a final tapestry of families and communities that love and care for each other in big and small ways.
Freda at Freda's Voice
I rather enjoyed this book, and how the author connected the Amish way to today's society. I think this book was beautifully written, and a great story.
Amy at Back Seat Writer
Suzanne Woods Fisher pulls together a good plot complete with great characters, and a little peek into the Amish culture. Actually, I was surprised I enjoyed The Choice so much and I would definitely recommend it to other readers, particularly those interested in “Amish-themed chick lit.”
